Updating Your Savings Sheet - Barrel Savings App (FREE on Android)

TUTORIAL: In this video we detail the update functionality. The update button is displayed in the top right corner of the main savings sheet, circular arrows. Use this strategically, whether you want to see your total savings before an update OR if you are set on the weeks ahead.

The Barrel Savings app is an excellent tool for targeting and focusing on your savings goals. Reach your important milestones and aim for Total Savings Rate objectives.

Creating A Savings Sheet

First we show the steps required for creating savings sheets. There are required fields in the 'New Savings Sheet' view. Your savings rate is set here, and is effective until you feel the need to change it. Selecting a rate shouldn't be done blindly, as you should make savings additions in accordance with this amount. Furthermore, it's not always realistic to save based on a set principle. For this reason, we can change our savings rate later.

Continuous Savings

Whilst you progress and save for a number of weeks or months, you may reach what is known as savings-fatigue. The Barrel Savings app is helpful in this case. When your savings did not go as planned it is a strategic move to add more time in the Edit Completion view, found in the main savings sheet. From here, once you save and set your additional time, you can return to the chart progress view. You will notice a new chart card has been added - with a newly calculated Savings Rate Total. Sometimes you will reach this stage and again, feel overburdened. But you will notice, in the main savings sheet view, the circular arrows in the top right change from blue to grey.

Updated Sheets

When you select the grey arrows, this will recalculate your savings plan and return to a blue savings sheet view. You may notice milestones are fulfilled, if your Barrel Savings figure exceeds your already set milestones. This is motivating and assures you are in line with savings progress for the coming weeks or months. When you have a new look at your chart, your savings may well be off the charts too. This 'Off The Charts' effect serves a purpose. We will explain below.

The 'Off The Charts' Reading

When you update your savings sheet your savings progress may be 'Off The Charts'. Visually identified in the tooltips information of the chart and the lines being a lot higher than the green and blue average/rate bars.

To elaborate: After long and continuous savings, multiple cards and many savings additions - your average savings may be dramatically lower than your savings rate. Barrel Savings app is here to provide assurance in your strategy. Updating your savings sheet early with the selection of the grey circular arrows (before the proceeding Total Savings Rate card is active as demonstrated) will effectively show you helpful progress information. Better Progress - On The Flip Side

We showcase our apps layout when your savings are going to plan. Your very well aligned with your savings rate objective and either meet your savings rate often or you may even surpass your savings rate by a healthy margin. Your Average Savings field will assure you as you make steps to manage your budget. At this point, it is a great time to set milestones.

Adding More Time

For an example, we can add five more weeks to our savings sheet - but without updating the savings sheet, the app responds differently. Here, we can see our real progress, down to your actual numbers. Our total savings can be useful as we continue our savings strategies. Sometimes you may want to get a sneak peek before you hit the circular update button again.

The Next Savings Session

In the chart view, the day will come around when you can track the newest Savings Rate Total goal and monitor for improvements. Having not updated your sheet until now, will display your actual total savings. Here, you can mark it against your Savings Rate Total as more time moves on. It's a noteworthy experience to witness the expansion of your savings progressively.

Final Note

You can update your savings sheet anytime, but it's great to be strategic. You generally shouldn't overload your savings sheet with multiple time slots. You must account for the present as priority, by adjusting your savings regularly. A manual and short term targeting approach is a lot more effective. Barrel Savings is there for this reason.
